Default XC40 electric - new digital dash styles

The new XC40 all electric seems to have new digital dash styles, compared with standard 12.3-inch ones in most other new Volvos. Just wondering if there could be a software update in the future to enable this.

Compared to my colleagues' latest VAG/BMW/Merc toys, Volvo's impressive hardware in display & HMI department are significantly "under-utilised".

See below photo from a website.

The new system is based on Android Automotive

Doubt Volvo will spend manpower and time to do this. Too much work and possible things to go wrong.

They would rather sell you and me a new car

I think this is crying out for a bigger screen

12 to 13 inch, keep the portrait style 4:3 (like iPads) or 3:2 (like Microsoft Surface) aspect ratio

Sounds like that will be the case, I'll persuade myself to forget about it.

The "cool" effect will die out over time, when new gadgets coming out.

And I prefer reading road signs myself, navigation is just an assist in most cases...

The other interesting thing which I spotted in a similar photo elsewhere is a virtual camera button on the home screen, top left. Something many of us have been keen to see for a very long time.

Very disappointed to hear these are available to order next Spring. My local dealer doesn’t think deliveries will be until early 2021. I was under the impression they would be available for delivery by next summer.
