Sort out what compromises you are prepared to accept. Almost by definition, your current objectives are mutually exclusive.

You should look for balance. HD rear and soft front = unhappiness. ARB front and rear, balanced. Lower tyre sidewall = sharper response, so a 17" rim on low profile is an easy first step. Suspension bushings as a matter of course. Lowering is not the devil incarnate and doesn't change the load-carrying capability of the car so not sure what your issue is there. Remeber a lowered car is lower at its UPPER measure, but not at its lower (springs compressed) measure.

Mixed reviews are generally the result of poor match between needs/expectations and reality. Sort your objectives and compromises out and your chances of disappointment reduce considerably.
