If it’s a facelift car with the 6 speed box, it doesn’t have one.

There’s a combined level and drain plug on the bottom of the gearbox.

From what I remember reading, there's something that looks suspiciously like a level plug on the top of the box.... Best not to undo that one, it's holding one of the shafts in (or something similar that you really want to stay where it is)

Just noticed, you say it’s a 2.4D rather than a D5, guessing the engine has a silver/grey cover rather than black. If so, it’s the facelift model and will have the level plug in the gearbox sump.

It is indeed hidden.
I'll give you some coordinates.
This orientation is from my petrol model.
Open your hood/bonnet.
You'll find the hood/bonnet latches have 2 mounting bolts each.
(check their condition as all 4 of mine were all but completely crumbled away-odd)
Measure 30mm inboard from the inboard bolt-head of the driver's side latch.
Then travel your eye 25cm into the engine bay. Peer downward.
You'll find the yellow dipstick under the radiator hose.
Thumb the sheet metal catch aside and pull it out.
A long sleeved work shirt may be necessary if you want to avoid dirt and scraping your arm.

Then this is your answer (and I would look closely, because if you undo this bolt, you will have to invest a lot of time and/or a lot of money):

And this is the answer, that solves your problem from the title, it also answers how you measure and fill your transmission oil level:
