Replace/fix exterior door window chrome trim?
The external chrome strips on my 2006 XC90 are beginning to "lift off" the door - see the one on the RHF door - right of the photo. Not a major problem but would like to secure it (them).
Had a quick google and search and I believe the part numbers are 30753850/1/2/3. There are the odd used ones on the bay that could do the job but I was wondering whether anyone knows where new ones can be sourced from (cheaper than a dealer price). Alternatively can these be refurbished with a new set of attachment clips? If so anyone know a part number and a source. Finally - how easy is it to remove them and replace them - or the clips - what's the secret? Cheers John |

I have the same issue with one of my rear trim strips. I'm fairly certain that there are just two clips, one front and one rear, that if replaced will correct it.
Volvo Part No. 31253046 I think it's worth asking a dealer for a price and availability. Some of these types of item, particularly specialised fasteners, are now considered "classic" parts and can be difficult to come by but possible for a dealer to order, with longer than usual lead times. If not, a quick search brought this up: https://cars245.co.uk/item/volvo-31253046-clip/

Looks from this diagram there may be two types of clip (of course...)
Correction, they are listed as 2 pieces (front and rear doors, items 15 and 17) but are the same part number. Cheers Dave Last edited by Harley Dave; Sep 8th, 2020 at 16:31. |

Thanks chaps. Its only showing one clip per trim piece - is that likely to be correct - or two (or more) ?
Any advice about how to get the trims off and replace the clip ? I am suspecting that if the trims are a bit distorted/bent it might be tricky to get them back on flush Cheers |

I remember watching the video on YT where one guy was talking & explaining while in the back there was another guy tearing chrome strips off and inserting new ones. It was xc60, but I think it's the same thing. Could be wrong though. Anyhow it was a real PITA.
I will try to find it and post here, maybe somebody else finds it sooner... |

However, fitting replacement ones should be simpler (he asks in hopeful anticipation!) John |

I have just recieved the clips 31253046 thinking that these clips would hold the strip to the door, WRONG, these clips hold the chrome strip to the rubber backing.
The rubber backing clips are moulded to the rubber behind, and so are not available as a separate part. This is just for info in case others thought like I did. John |
