Been a busy weekend and did not get a chance to get the parameters when car running, but will try tonight or tomorrow.
Oragex, I'm not sure if there's anything else wrong with it, VIDA only displays that code. If it's not too bitterly cold I'll try to look at the green plug and see if I can spot the wires, although would need some diagrams before I start cutting into them. The air con had not kicked in a single time since I bought the car in April, to answer an earlier query. Appreciate your input guys, I'll try and get some data into the thread as well. |

UPDATE
Hooked the car to VIDA a few minutes ago and read the parameter on the Evaporator Temperature Sensor: 100 degrees C both on a stone cold car (2C outside) and with the engine running. Does that mean it's definitely a bad sensor? Or can wiring issues cause these type of readings? Also, anyone know where I can get the wiring diagram for the Air Con plugs from behind the control panel? Are they in VIDA? Where should I look? Thanks again, Serge |

And to answer my own question, with a bit of help from Google:
and zoomed in It shows two wires going to EVAP and I assume VO stands for Violet and BN for Brown, so far so good, similar to the V70/XC70 from the old thread. Is the '3/112' part the green plug you think? Does that mean that if I splice into those two wires with a new sensor it should theoretically all work? Any hidden obstacles there? Something I'm missing? It almost sounds too simple, to be honest I do realise I would still need to find a way to insert the sensor into the Evaporator casing and run longer wires, but even hearing the compressor kick in would be a great success for me! You could manipulate the wiring/plug whilst running live data to see if the temperature figures change and become credible. To confirm or eliminate the sensor itself, you ideally need to resistance test the sensor plug contacts when unplugged from the climate system. The resistances for a range of temperatures are in the Product Specifications sub section of Information in Vida.

Thanks, CheshireD5, I'll try and get to the actual wires with a multimeter sometime this week.
I've ordered a new sensor online, which should be here sometime next week - it was 20 quid so I thought I'd just get one anyways. Another question - when the sensor arrives, what's the best way to connect wires to it? Soldering, I would guess, although the connector seems to be quite small. Any way I can identify and buy this green plug? |

theserijoca: Similar Problems installing Evap. Temp Sensor
Hi. How did you go with installing your new sensor? I am in Australia with RHD 2002 V70 XC. Only option outside of customising fit is dismantle dash to access Evaporator Casing. Bracing myself to begin this process as dont have the experience to create an electrical bypass. Cheers.

Hiya, not done it yet I'm afraid, Scotland's only had 3 proper days with temperatures above 10 degrees, plus in the middle of a house remodelling but hoping to get there in the next few weeks.
I'll create another post with some pics at the time and leave a link here as well.

Hope you and yours are all safe in Scotland. Have you been able to make any progress in the lock down with the pesky Temp. Sensor? Have busily been doing a mechanical archeological dig down to my alternator to do repair. What a job! Gods only know what it will be like dismantling the whole dash. Cheers |
