Default Dashboard Illumination

Hi All

I've noticed for a while now that my dashboard illumination is Dimmer above (i'm talking about the MPH and Rev-counter Dials area)than below and just recently when entering the car and putting the key in the starter the ring around the lock housing is no longer illuminated green as it used to be.

The roller dimmer switch to the right on the light cluster switches is active and if used does dim or illuminate the dials but only the bottom section (say 3 around to 9 area of the dials but not the top (9 around to 3) ).

Before I go the diagnostic route I just wondered if any of you had experienced this and how it was fixed....maybe a neon bulb or fuse for example?

Any help gratefully received.

Hi, mine is an earlier model/year but the dash on my XC90 is very much dimmer than my old V70. I did ask ' Volvo diagnostics' about this as he sorted my ICM and was told that on my model (03) the illumination was via LEDs. Hence could not be replaced other than with 'surgery' on the unit.

I do use Vida, but doubt if it would pick up faulty diodes, but may be worth s check.

Hope this helps.
