Default Seven seater load cover

Hello,

I'm thinking of buying a 7 seater 850 estate and was wondering if the load cover from a 5 seater could be adapted to fit. I will only need the back seats occasionally and was hoping to have these folded away and have a load cover most of the time.
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on this?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks....

PS

How reliable are 850 auto boxes? It will be a 2 litre if that makes a difference.

I'm afraid I don't know about the load cover, though I have seen two different types fitted to 850 estates. Mine incorporates a small plastic parcel shelf about 6" in depth, the other type I've seen is just a canvas roll without the shelf.

My T5 auto is approching 207k miles on the original box and all still seems ok, though I have heard of others going bang and some problems with the pnp switch. I think all outo boxes were the same on all 850 models and I don't think the manuals are any stronger/weaker.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

My 96 T5 has the 7-seat conversion, and the seats remain folded down most of the time. I have the (spring-loaded) roller-cover, which stays in place all the while I'm not using the extra seating.

Not sure about the other type of luggage cover mentioned, but if yours is like mine, it should be OK.

HTH.

Sorry if I've caused more confusion!! What I meant was that both types use a retractable canvas cover but mine also includes a small parcel shelf.

Well, the load cover is the same for cars with and without seven seat conversion. When the seats are up, you leave the load cover retracted and when the seats are down, you can use the load cover. That's how it works.
