Default Do 960 roof bars fit 850?

Hi, wondered if anyone has knowledge of this? Found some Volvo branded roof bars that have come off a late 960 estate, before I make the trip over just wondered if anyone knows if these fit an 850 estate? As far as I can tell the rails are a similar shape but who knows?

Thanks,

Rob.

I would imagine the 960's are longer, as the 850 comes in at 160mm shorter than a 960.

Cheers

There might be some confusion over terminology here. My definition is as follows -

- running along the length of the car (roof rails)
- running side to side, clipped onto the roof rails (roof bars or cross bars)

Just to avoid confusion

According to the Volvo Accessory Catalogue, the roof rails are common between the 855, V70, V70 AWD and V70 Cross Country - ie P80 platform estates.

Looking at the same catalogue, the roof bars only list the same part number for 855 and V70 (P80 platforms again). There are two types - square and oval profiles.

Hope that helps

NB You can of course get aftermarket adjustable width roof bars - I have a pair that I have used on an 855, a 945 and a Landrover Discovery. They just clamp onto the roof rails (and lock) allowing them to fit pretty much any roof rail. I think they're Thule branded, but there will be other equally good options available.

I managed to find some genuine original V70 (P80 platform) cross bars for my 850. The V70 roof bars (front to back) are slightly thicker than the 850 roof bars therefore the cross bars won't tighten fully so I cut and fitted some silicon sheet in the clamps and they are now solid enough to carry a bike up top.

So yeah, as pointed out I’m after the bars that run across the roof, my car already has the rails that run along the roof...😂 Good to know about the two different sizes/shape of rail though. 👍🏻

I know I could buy aftermarket but I’m just being sad and want genuine Volvo branded ones, don’t ask why because I honestly couldn’t tell you..😂

Part number for the original bars for my 850 is 9192487
A search on the internet shows that the same part number is the correct bars for the 960

This was the original invoice when the first owner of my car bought roof bars (sadly I never got them with the car) It clearly shows the part number

Picture below is part number 9192487

Picture below are V70 bars which are part number 9483630 These are what I now have fitted

Cross reference 9192487 and they are also the original bars for the 960

How much are they asking for them out of interest? I've got a set off my old V70 sat here in South West Sheffield.

These are up for £25.

Let me know if you want rid of them, more than happy to come pick them up if they’re genuine Volvo ones?

Rob.
