Default New car noises

Hi

We purchased a second hand 2015 1.6l D2 V40 R-Design from a main dealer just over a week ago, after driving it for a week we've noticed a couple of irritating noises:-

1) When moving the gear shift into 1st, there is a kind of plasticy squeak coming the left side of the gear shift lever below the leather cover.
2) When the air conditioning is on, there is a rhythmic "chirp" sound coming from under the dashboard on the drivers side.

I did have a search for these before but couldn't find an exact match.

Having not owned a Volvo before I was wondering if either sound normal for this car or if anyone else has experienced either before?

Thanks!

Haven't noticed any strange noises when the air conn is on. Ours is the same age but automatic, so no changing into first. However, we have a very different engine. You sure it is not the D2 engine you are hearing? How many miles has the car done?

Hi and thanks for the reply.

The good news is the dealer managed to fix the gear shift noise, I think they just greased something under the cover.
The a/c noise under the dash appears to have gone away for the moment, so will monitor that one.

The only other noise I get on a regular basis I have tracked down to the drivers seatbelt socket (with the red button), which makes a ticking noise which stops if you squeeze it. Anyone had that before?
