Default Glove test and the PCV system.

Hey all,

I recently replaced the PCV system on my 2001 S40 with B4204T3 engine, thanks for all the great info you guys have put up here on the board, it really helped. After the fix, I went ahead and attempted the glove test over the oil filler hole and while it shows suction, there is also a persistent fluttering or puffing or pulsation present. So the glove gets sucked down, but if also moves up and down rapidly. Is this just blowby of the cylinders or is there some other system or part that could be malfunctioning?

Thanks!!

The glove test on both my current cars pulls the plastic taught with no fluttering. PCV's still original units on both cars.

I think it only matters when you rev it up a little. If it sucks down then, you should still be good to go. A bit of a flutter at tickover when there is less vacuum probably isn't an issue.
I say this 'cos my V70 is the same :-) anyone else confirm this is okay?

Does your car have a Turbo? because that makes a difference with the glove test.

The V40 is non turbo, the C70 is turbo. Have done the test on both cars at tickover and the plastic is pulled down into the filler cap until it is taught and both remained taught without any flickering. Neither car showed any signs of a blocked PCV - just did the test to make sure.
