50 tonnes ? The round metal piece of the hub (with the holes for the lug nuts) is already bent, forget it. The lug nuts will break free while driving because the round part of the hub is not flat any long, even by just a little bit, and won't stay flat against the wheel causing the lugs to slowly break loose while the car is driving. Nothing to do about it at this pint. And I'm not even mentioning the wheel bearing is not supposed to take 50 tonnes of shearing force.

Grab a used hub and axle and install them. You can prevent the issue with the reluctor ring by spraying in advance some rust reforming paint over it, so the one on the other wheel doesn't crack as well.

The YouTube video isn't his - he posted it as an example as to how hard it can be...

If I was faced with that I think I would cut it with a grinder - more precise than a plasma.

Indeed, the video is another guy, but he said his mechanic already tried a 50 tonne press

Thanks for the replies guys , my mechanic recommended the second hand shaft and hub route , although if he can cut the old hub off and fit a new one I'd prefer that route , I've dosed it in penetrating oil today , so I'll give that a week or so , see what happens , could he draw the whole drive shaft out of the gearbox without draining it ?
Thanks again Dave

If he's good at cutting, you may end up only needed a wheel bearing like in the video. However he must be quite skilled not to damage the splines on the axle or you won't be able to insert the axle in the new bearing.

Yes, totally agree , looks like I may have to sacrifice the hub , searching the net, seized on hubs seem quite common , can't find any mention on this forum though

This is really common but only on XC90's oddly

Basically people try and drive the shaft out with a narrow or rounded end drift.

This has the effect of spreading the driveshaft out which then jams it into the hub, the more they smack it the more it spreads the more it grips in the hub.

Basically you want a nice big drift with a flat or even concave face, one that only just fits into the hole is ideal.

Once someone has spread them out and jammed them in your stuffed though

cheers

Ben
