No one is suggesting that Volvo have their own factory, but they have bulbs made to a higher spec than other retailers require. In much the same way, Tesco don't have their own factory to make value cornflakes that retail for a fraction of the price of Kelloggs: they are just made using cheaper ingredients with a different recipe. You pays your money and you takes your choice

Curiously, most own label is the same as branded, just with their label.

Question

A bold assertion . Kellogg's made a specific point of stating that "We don't make cereals for anyone else!".

Volvo use long life bulbs.
May bulb manufacturers (Osram, Philips, etc) make long life versions of their bulbs with up to 3x the operating lifespan of normal bulbs

For any vehicle where the lights are on all the time - as on many Volvos - it pays to fit the long life bulb instead of a standard bulb. It simply means you are changing them less often.

Agreed on the long-life versions which anyone can buy from anywhere - back to the point though that the difference is in the packaging and you are paying a lot for that

Be wary that not every branded box contains branded goods. Philips automotive bulbs seem to be particularly affected: https://www.thecounterfeitreport.com...nd-Lights.html
