Good old FM, radio, you cant beat it, DAB is rubbish, and the government want to turn off normal radio broadcasting and force us all onto digital, DAB is useless in Hilly area's and once you lose the signal and change to another station, try finding it again without taking your eyes of the road and digging in to the sensus screen. I have pressed the steering wheel button forever trying to get my normal station back and end up going back to FM and there it is straight away playing perfect when Digital cant detect it.
They say Its the future (my a*se)

Agree with DAB is pretty poor comments. I live in a relatively rural area, but it isn't particularly hilly. However, there are certain spots on the school run where we do climb a little and then drop into a dip, and you loose BBC radio stations on DAB, but they remain perfect on FM. Also, I feel the sound quality is better on FM.

So apart from offering a wider range of commercial stations, which I rarely listen to, DAB offers nothing for me!

Reception-wise I've never personally had a problem with DAB and this is my 4th car with in in(all different badges). But then I don't live in a hilly area or go anywhere too remote very often.

My last car (5 series) did have the issue of switching to local radio for the traffic announcements, often a few minutes more afterwards too. Took a while to find out how to disable it deep in the settings.

My main issue is that the voice control to change the DAB radio station is useless and offers random search results instead. Strangely, normally they're FM stations, as if the car is trying to tell me something...

As nu11eaf said digging through the menu radio on either display whilst driving isn't a good idea.

Don't forget you can add your radio stations to favourites, helps a little with finding them again.

My experience differs. The XC90 is the first car I've had where DAB works faultlessly 99.99% of the time.

A common problem on other cars (don't know about SPA cars) is that DAB can be compromised by 3rd party phone (or other) chargers some of which create a huge amount of RF noise in the DAB frequency band.

Unfortunately the UK was one of the first countries to adopt DAB whereas other countries that waited have gone straight to DAB2 which can offer superior sound.
