Who are "the powers that be" ? If they are a local council, I can believe the response. If it is a private parking company (of which there are many), then I would advise no way is this correct. The PPCs will (almost certainly) tell you that if you cannot pay for the parking either by machine or phone, then don't park. It's simply not worth the risk. Some PPCs are really nasty.

In this instance it was the attendant employed by the Local Authority. I take your point about a private company.

I hope this information will be of help to someone, as well as for me!

Cheers, my tongue was in cheek with the vanity plate comment.
Couldn't help noticing the Morgan in your avatar. My grandad used to race them on pendine sands, 115 mph in an aero bodied 3 wheeler must have been fun!

Thread revival, with an apology for not acknowledging GreenBrick’s post.

It’s not a Morgan, unfortunately, it’s a JZR, I bought it as a project (aka a failed build) in the late 90s, dismantled it and rebuilt it. It’s a kit car, using the engine, gearbox, final drive and some electrics from a Honda CX500 bike.

The closest I get to using the M word is occasionally describing it as ‘Morganesque’, but more usually it’s just a ‘30s style sporting 3 wheeler’.

Great fun, whatever it is!

Malcolm
Edit: avatar pic change. The eye is a pen and ink drawing by my granddaughter.

I was running a tad late for a meeting once in that Birmingham but figured I just had enough time to park and dash the couple of streets to the venue....

The Pay for Parking computer had different ideas....my 'account' defaulted to a previously added vehicle so I had to add a new vehicle...then I typed the reg wrong with my sausage fingers so had to do it all over again...the frustration was immense...and I lost the contract I'd been to the meeting about, hey ho.

No idea how senior citizens get on.

Ageist!

Senior citizens get on just fine. This one, for example, doesn't use an app for parking (or anything else).

Hey I'm 49 and already having 'senior moments' I'm in full support here........

I've recently been seen going into other rooms of the house and then forgetting the reason for being there
