Default Rear door locking

I have a 2016 XC60. The locking for both rear doors on the central locking is inconsistant. The garage has suggested that the units for both doors need replacing. This sounds odd. Has anyone else come across this?

Lots of XC-60 erratic door locking issues are caused by a poor contact at the wiring harness to door switch connection. There are plenty of youtube vids showing how to remove the outer door handle with switch and clean the contacts (a bit of contact cleaner sprayed in and fitting/removing the connector a few times cleared it). Perhaps worth trying this zero-cost option before replacing parts?
