What does this button do?

Hello fellow Volvo owners,

I'm not new to Volvo – my family had one in the mid 90s – but I am now the owner of a V40. I'm also new to this forum, so I take it this is the best place to ask such a novice question.

But what on earth does this button do?

A Google image search has revealed nothing useful and there's nothing in the manual(s) as far as I can tell.

Any ideas?

Without a picture, which I can’t see, a guess, a blank insert where a switch would go for an option you don’t have?
