2002 S40T Oil leak VVT seal or gasket?
298k on the clock.
Seem to have oil leak which mechanic says could be VVT or seals. Now I had the timing belt replaced in 2019 and the VVT SEAL.... this should not be leaking after only 50k more on the clock? Says a VVT cost $700 for the part down here? |

So ring VOLVO for part number and price and told VVT gasket seal $21 but not rubber?
VVT is a solidnoid and only refurbished is available $445? Use this correct? |

So on inspection via mechanic told them VVT solinoid causing the leaking oil and needs replacing.
How common is this for 300k S40t? Anyone else had experience with this issue? Told the last is not brand new but reconditioned not refurbished by Volvo. Is this the start of more issues appearing as car drives well? |

So got it back from mechanic and I got the part wrong.
He showed me VVT EXHAUST PLATE.... $655 Said they get old, wobble and replace with cam seals Ended up costing $1300 installed. |
