Default Fuel filler cap springy thingy

Mine's snapped

Can I just change the springy thingy or must I replace the whole filler cap? It looks like the plastic ring that attaches to the cap is hard plastic, and I can't figure out how the ring detaches and attaches. The other end is obvious, it just hangs off a metal peg.

In any case... anyone got one lying about?

This is a phase 2 late 2002 diesel so mine's black

Is this what you're after? States it's only for petrol models though.

Just hang the cap on the hook on the inner side of the flap and you won't forget to put it back on

That is EXACTLY what I'm after but the diesel variety (what would the difference be? size perhaps?)

I'm sure it'd be easier to get one with a filler cap from a scrappy though, as I can't see how you'd remove the ring from the filler cap?

£17 delivered doesn't seem *too* bad but I do like to recycle where possible.

I bought a new one for my C70 from PFS - I know it doesn't look like it will, but the ring has enough flexibility in it to just pull off.

Of course, if you break it doing so (as I did) it doesn't matter because you'll have the new one which just pushes on - it's quite hard but again flexible enough to do so.

If you search Ebay, for "Volvo v40 strap" then you'll find them.

I just bought one and fitted it, but mine it petrol. I'm happy to measure mine if you need to check diesel vs petrol although I notice that one listed says 'petrol only' so there must be a difference...

Just make sure you don't forget the V40 bit of the search phrase, you'll never know what could pop up on eBay!!
