Sensus upgrade for MY14.5

Dealer I went to for QAI check on Monday has called me back regarding the proposed enhancements to sensus connect to bring in line with MY15.

They have checked and got definitive answer from Volvo.

They will not be offering wifi tethering (in addition to bluetooth) by way of a software upgrade. There are apparently some hardware updates which facilitate this which are not available on MY14 or 14.5.

So there we go only this contradicts what the Volvo press release stated, something acknowledge by the dealer which they will be raising.

Has he given you any better idea of when it will be available? Volvo UK are still being non-committal only stating hopefully the end of the month.

Sorry, didn't ask when it would be available for all the other enhancements as my question was specifically about the wifi thing.

He did say he would make contact again after they have had a further training date for the new enhancements only think that might have been in July. He did also say he would explore if there was ever likely to be a way of adding wifi (via a hardware update) at some future date.

PS. He also advised that mine needs a recall regarding a hose (which has already been referred to in a previous post).

My Dealer from Poland told me that Volvo will be upgrade a sensus for My2014 (46W) from 25W of this year.

Have noticed Volvo has changed the information on their website regarding retrospective upgrade to wifi for MY14 & My14.5 with sensus connect.

Did originally state it was available for above variants (have kept a copy of the page stating this) but now only shows available for MY15.

Guess that's the definitive then but wish it was correct first time round to save the disappointment of proposed functionality enhancements.

In my case i dont have a wifi Access point in car, only bluetooth who is very poor speed Maybe all XC60 past for 4613 has a wifi modem or access point but this is hide?

Interesting point. My car is after week 46 of 2013 but no wifi option. When a list of enhancements were made available by one forum member regarding enhancements of MY15 over MY14.5, there was no mention of the proposed functionality changes to sensus connect, other than the 'May' update for new services which is yet to arrive.

Like you say, maybe there is some way of allowing this additional functionality although I have been advised that there are hardware enhancements to MY15 which allow for both wifi and bluetooth. Think we will need to wait and see if there is some way of adding wifi as well as the bluetooth is a bit flaky at times. Maybe Volvo are trying to play catch-up before they offer this if indeed they can.

A Volvo technician is looking into this and will advise me in due course when the 'May' update becomes available for existing owners who already have sensus connect.

I have been told categorically that wifi will not be available on MY14.5 models unless they have VOC - this also reflects what @Flux has been told.

I also note the alteration of the statements on the website after I used the published website information as collateral when asking when the Wifi (and other aspects) would be made available to post 4613 vehicles

Popped a sim card in today to try.
MY15 no park and pay app, just local search and those other naff apps i'll never use. Maybe we all need an update or go and live in Sweden if its another territorial letdown..
