Default Drive the deal discounts

Yes I did dare start another thread about DTD!

I played around on the site a bit and noticed that Volvo have by far the biggest discounts of any makes I tried out. Around 20% compared to around 10% for other makes.

I wonder if this suggests Volvo maybe price their cars higher so there is more room to negotiate and then it appears there are better discounts available? Make sense?

You need to check out the Ford's...

The first Focus I tried, from £21694 to £15272 - approx 30% off!

First Mercedes E-class I checked, from £32749 to £26023 (21%).

I'm not sure what you checked to get only 10%!

The discounts will vary over time for all the brands- it depends on the stock situation and what incentives the manufacturer has in place to push certain models.

Can we expect even greater discounts on the old style XC90 as the new model gets nearer? And can we expect to see massive discounts on the XC60 as the new model approaches (well alright, it is a while yet). It could influence the trade-in value, that is my concern.

Don't forget simple economics of supply and demand.
New Cars don't generally go up in price but manufacturers just add more features to justify keeping the price high. New models are the only times prices can go up. If the cars are flying out of the showrooms and they can't make them fast enough then price may go up short term, unless you want to flood the market like Audi did a few years back.

What has amazed me is when you go onto a dealer they say they have very little room to negotiate on price. How can DTD, and closely followed by Car Wow, get such huge discounts? DTD I get it more as it appears they use one dealer for each make so they can get great deals. Car Wow use multiple dealers and the offers they sent me, from about 5 different main Volvo dealers, were about £1000 more than DTD so still massively discounted.

The DTD quotes allow for some commission for themselves plus the dealer will still be making some profit, that's after an 8k discount! Does this mean that my local dealer can potentially make around 8k selling a single car? Or have I missed something here? It is early for me......
