Default Dash pad cover 76-80

does anyone know if this marvellous piece of american over-indulgence was ever marketed in the UK? it would be the icing on the cake on my 1978 244 DL and I crave it intensely...

Another tacky American accessory (which I love!) most commonly for LHD, but if you email the seller they should be able to manufacture one 'inside out' to suit a RHD. I did this a couple of years back for my 850 and it wasn't a problem for the seller.

Careful who you buy from and don't go with the cheapest... the carpet used on the cheaper ones are very floppy and will never sit flush on the dash!

I don't see them often enough but I think they are a great creature comfort for covering up common (here) cracks on the 2/7/9 series dash!

thanks darrenk, totally agree on tackiness, but I got now to that point in which the urge to "complete" the car with every (original) accessory under the sun has become uncontrollable... your suggestion is perfect good sense, I will ask them (and around) about it. thank you

Oh dear me. You do realise there is no cure for this. Sitting with a Volvo 240 accessory brochure will provide temporary relief but is likely to result in further scouring of worldwide ebay.

I've seen RHD mats for the late dash on australian ebay. Might be a good place to start.

They do make a bit of sense, if you live in a country where the sun actually comes out for more than 30 seconds per year like Oz or the southern US, the dash of your car gets messed up by the UV fairly quickly.

edit: just had a look, and yes, you can get a RHD dash pad cover for the early dash for 75 dollars australian.

edit 2: brain fart time, I meant RHD mats, obviously.

true, mike. but it's too late now. I have that bug too. I become aware of it since spending hours scanning feverishly all those vintage brochures. furthermore, the car has already been the object of similar hysterical-curatorial attention: there is a fantastic original Seventies map-reading light on the passengers side, tachometer, and several purpose-made switches...

thanks very much wooble. to be honest, there is a grain of practical need for this thing to figure on my dash, other than pure fanaticism: this prodigious vehicle in less than a year has taken me 3 times to native italy, where sunlight, as much as prime ministers corruption, notably reach outstanding intensity...
