Newbie questions
Hi,
Couple of questions regarding my 2010 XC60, I'm posting them here as they might be valid across the range: 1. No USB port on the audio only Aux (3.5mm). I'm used to having my music on a USB memory stick. Does anyone know of a 3.5mm to USB adapter that works, as a lot of the ones on Amazon don't appear to. Or do I buy an MP3 player. 2. My steering wheel as the chrome (plastic) insert and on the bottom two parts on the back the chrome is peeling and there is quite a sharp edge. Not bad enough to cut myself, but annoying as I know it's there. Anyone else have this problem and apart from replacing steering wheel is there another solution. 3. Power steering heavy. This is subjective I know, fluid is a clear green, but power steering is far heavier than my wifes VW. The XC60 will not turn with a finger but does with one hand. Are they just heavier than other cars or may I have a pump or rack problem. I've read a lot of treads, but no one ever gives what I call a solution. 4. After 3 weeks a bit miffed that fuel consumption is only 29mpg. Not a heavy footed driver and 17 miles to work down a dual carriageway. Love the car though, so looking forward to sorting a few issues then a long happy ownership. Thanks Graham |

2. You should be able to order just that part - try a Volvo dealer directly. If not/expensive, then a whole wheel may be cheaper from a scrappie. 3. Yes, quite heavy steering but as mentioned above, it does give good feel. 4. You’re doing well with 29mpg. I’m lucky to see 26!

Re the steering wheel.
My daughter’s XC70 has the plastic chrome/stainless steel trim on the front. It started to lift an edge on one of the spokes. I very carefully cut away the very small amount which had lifted away then equally carefully squeezed some Loctite superglue along the cut edge. That smoothed the edge out and it is still holding up.
