Default Great honest runout review of XC90 from Oz

I have been searching and researching and have bought today. Car has gone straight to garage for long overdue Cambelt, plugs, (they are original and have done 130k km) and full service. I am soooo looking forward to getting to know my new car. I am not looking for excitement anymore as we just can't drive fast here (NZ) and I don't live in Germany anymore. It is more about passengers, passengers, passengers and also comfort of travel. Having enjoyed a Mitsubishi Challenger, a Nissan Pathfinder and, gulp, a 1997 Hondar CRV here, it is time for a change.

Agree with Bogit09 re comfort and passengers - great car to ride in as a passenger, virtually silent on the motorway; amazing.

MK1 in my mind is the way to go if you wish to keep for a long time and either do not like or cannot afford the Mk2. Personally, I prefer the MK1 over the MK2 plus most of the problems have been ironed out; if you read all the issues here, just imagine in 5 years the problems that will have surfaced for the new model!

I am sure many MK2s will be scrapped early simply because they are too costly to diagnose and repair once they are into 2nd or 3rd ownership which obviously is what the manufacturers want!
