The mechanic must know a thing or two about DPFs if he made that suggestion. Some DPF systems take information from the fuelling of a vehicle to manage the delivery of exhaust catalysts (adblue/eolys). Each time the fuel flap is opened the control module responsible for administering the catalyst (sometimes just the ECM or an additional supplementary module) assumes that the fuel tank has been filled to its maximum capacity. Problems can arise over time if the fuel level isn't topped up to the maximum each time the fuel flap is opened.

If people would only talk when they know what they are talking about, it would be pretty silent in this world.

These cars don't use AdBlue additives in the fuel.

I now use it in the fuel of my Jaguar for the past 3 1/2 years without problem . If you do try it use s goo quality ordinary mineral based low ashself mix oil at 200: 1 ratio about 300ml to a tank. I use Carlube two stroke available from Morrisons . You will notice engine runs quieter , smoother and picks up a bit quicker .

This study shows no benefit of 2 stroke in diesel and that it has potential to cause injector fowling.

The DPF regeneration is controlled by the computer. It won't start the regen even if you're at high speed if the amount of the soot is not reached the programmed value.

My car started the regen around 28G of soot during city/highway driving last week. DPF, Cat -> +600C°, EGR fixed 4-5%.

DPF Soot Levels

Level 1: Engine control module (ECM) starts combustion of soot particles in the particle filter
during highway driving.
Level 2: Engine control module (ECM) starts combustion of soot particles in the particle filter
during normal driving.
Level 3: A text message, Soot filter full, is sent to the Driver information module (DIM), and
the control module sets a DTC.
Level 4: Engine control module (ECM) can no longer start combustion of soot particles of its
own initiative. A further text message, Engine system service required, is sent to the Driver
information module (DIM), and another fault code is sent.
Level 5: More than 100 g soot . Combustion of soot particles cannot be started using the
diagnostic tool.

Engine---Particle Filter----Level 1----Level 2----Level 3----Level 4----Level 5

2.4--------- ccDPF-------------24g-----------27g---------32g----------36g----------100g

Read that in the past . Not going to plough through it again but I think the test they performed were with a synthetic based 2 s oil not recomended VW and MB did some test and even run an engine on virtually neat 2S oil .
After using it for many years my cars have had No ill effects . Not forgetting that Fuel Expert will produce a report favouring the fuel companies who want you to use the "super " grade fuel etc . Try it you may be surprised .

I'd also recommend you keep that oil away from the engine. But I haven't tried it, so I haven't noticed any ill effects from it. I'm not going to try it either, for a good reason.
