Clutch release bearing
Having had to replace the head and gasket on my 122S I am changing the 3 parts of the clutch at the same time. My problem is removal of the release bearing, there is a single fork that, unlike the one in the Haynes manual, does not pivot on the opposite side of the bell housing but on a presumably round stud on the same side of the bell housing as per image.
DSCN3111a.jpg Anybody any idea how to remove the bearing, there doesn't appear to be any fastening visible but the fork ill not lift off the pivot point. |

Niveattack;
To remove Fork, you could simply separate Bell Housing from Gearbox...but if you don't wish to do that, I believe the Pivot is secured to Bell Housing by a (through)-Bolt from the outside which you should be able to loosen and remove (while holding hex on bottom of Pivot to keep it from turning), and this will allow removal of Pivot...but this is from memory, so I suggest you verify with a look at the exploded assembly diagram in gcp.se ... For quick reference, Clutch Fork which you show pivots on the same side as input, and is therefore the hydraulic (push) type...Clutch Fork which pivots on the side opposite of input is the cable (pull) type...you are looking at late 122 config with cable activated clutch ...look at early version with hydr clutch! Also...Beware!...Release Bearing heights are specific to Pressure Plate, and do not interchange. Good Hunting! |

Looking at the oil there you might consider replacing the gearbox front bearing housing gasket and seal ring, BUT, A BIG BUT, beware this isn't a task to take on lightly as all of the works can quickly get out of line if you don't keep the input shaft in it's central position while doing that. Look at the parts book diagram and you'll see what I mean.
