Rear brake lights (quaintly called high level) were not fitted to either early 740 saloons (1985 & 1986 model years) nor 1986 - model/first year estates*.

Jon.

*700 estates (740/760) were launched for the same model year (i.e 1986).

Crikey - Three different silvers/greys! I think i spotted three different blues as well. Almost as if Volvo were hedging their bets on the colours, give it a year or so and retain the popular choices, delete the rest and add a couple more as "compensation".

Thankfully we don't call them "ChiMSL" in this country! It's a USA acronym of sorts standing for Central High Mounted Stop Light - either way it's a mouthful!

Default 740/760 estate launch colours.

Again a Pdf (!), 11 colours in the estate palette but only one solid colour available on the 765 - Black to special order.

I've scanned these images from my literature/brochure collection so they're old and the printing process is not always faithful to the true colour. Example being 200 Blue Metallic, the colour is actually lighter than depicted being more akin to Mercedes Pearl Blue Metallic - or the Rover 75 metallic blue (got that brochure somewhere).

Not all the colours were available on the 745GL for example - only 130 Silver (my car) or 402 Blue Green. And you could only have one solid on the GLE (019 Black) and one metallic was excluded - 214 Dark Grey.

There are a number of other factors that would have determined colour availability and one being dealer orders to the concessionaire.

Hope the attachment works !

N.B it appears I've had a software update and when I scan a document it appears to convert it automatically into a Pdf - or am I missing something ? Perhaps the only alternative is to photograph documents ?
Perhaps the update has changed the driver for your scanner. If you can find or download the manufacturer's scanning driver for your scanner or printer/scanner and update it that might resolve the issue. That sorted a similar problem on my Epson after I had to change to windoze 10.

Another approach is to install for example VueScan. When I had my scanning problem I found that on my system VueScan worked better than the Epson driver.

Appreciate the post Stephen, my scanner worked fine (Canon printer/scanner) until the update, either an automatic update by Microsoft or Lenovo - converts everything I now scan into a Pdf.

I guess Microsoft !

I try a few options as you suggest.

Three blues and three reds. I am sure there was a trend for those colours back then.

I have owned two N regs and a M, all were burgundy red, mid 1990s when that had a trend.

If you go into the settings of your scanner on your PC Jon, you should be able to set it to "Save image as..." then select "JPEG file (.jpg)" which should make it possible to upload it as a "normal" photo.

I doubt it will make much difference to the colour of the images, another one that's a bit "off" is Blue-Green which in reality is a slightly darker version of Honda Malachite Green but looks almost black on my screen.

I wasn't concerned about the colour reproduction, merely that the scanned items were being converted to Pdfs without any intervention from me ! I am familiar with Blue Green metallic having owned a mint 1987 745GLEa with a beige leather interior.

Default Blue Green

My newly acquired 745 turbo is blue green metallic. It had the chequered half leather seats in beige, but they were knackered so I have replaced them with Caramac coloured 760 leather seats. I also have the colours for the 760 which I'll post later.
