Post up your car's best fuel economy (from recent years). Additionally, please state your engine and model year, and any other details you want to include. The poll is only for petrol-engined 700/900s.

I'll start.

That wouldn't be helpful to people who do 'give a hoot'. The purpose of this poll (in my mind) is not to 'show off' how good your car's fuel economy is, but to give an idea of what 'average' is and also what can be achieved through careful maintenance. So, the next time somebody asks whether 23mpg is OK for a 940, they can be directed to this thread. If enough people take part, I'm sure this thread will be very useful to some people. The way I've arranged the poll options, we should see a normal distribution.

Hi ROA, if you click on any of the blue underlined numbers on the poll you will see lists of all the contributors to the poll. Then click on a username to see their profile.

The best I've had out of The Volvo (B200F with AW-71 autobox) is around 29mpg, but 25mpg is more usual. TV2 routinely gets 30mpg...

740 GLT 1986 "C" Estate
B230e
Manual M46

Best approx: 30mpg (on a run)
Average: 25-26mpg (day to day around town)

Jetex exhaust & filter, magnecor leads, ecotek valve. Tried all sorts over the years to improve MPG but nothing makes any difference! Can get more power & performance but the MPG never changes...
