The magnetic holder I got from Halfords fitted nicely on the air-vents above the stereo and meant the phone rested on the plastic surround above the CD player - in other words stopped it bouncing about on bumpy roads. As a bonus, when I was using the phone as a SatNav, the screen was in the same place as you'd find with built-in systems, so made the car look more modern from the outside

I use two small blobs of blu tack on the little ledge thing just beneath the hazard warning button.

I then just place the phone on there and the blu tack stops it sliding around. With the angle of the dash the phone itself doesn't need to be stuck down.

Seems to be in a good position for glancing at for sat nav.

Also picks up "ok Google" commands so I use it for Spotify, calling, asking directions etc without having to touch it whilst driving.

i went for this and its really good for reference - not your usual cheap tacky plastic is well made, the rear grips are solid rubber so it doesnt move an inch and ive gt the phone sitting in the console vents meaning it looks nice

ive heard weird stories with those though, strong magnets and magnetically stored data can only go one way over time...

Brodit for me too but mounted down by left of central console. Great quality! I have iPhone with Otterbox case and the adjustable phone holder fits a treat.

I don't believe there is any magnetically stored data in a modern mobile phone, everything is stored in flash memory. Still, I've never used a magnetic holder and personally don't like the idea for no reason I can articulate.

I've got a CD slot holder. (This one) and it works very well. It doesn't jiggle about and looks decent. Also since I have a 6CD changer I can still use the CD player fine, it doesn't obstruct operation.

The only thing I'd like to do is find a way to clip the USB cable and AUX cable nicely up the side of the console, because they just look messy flapping about loose.

One of the advantages of placing phones/sat navs in the bottom right hand corner of the windscreen is that cables are simply hiddin with very short lengths between the space behind the dash and the phone and are virtually invisable. If you use a holder that is also a dock, it's even better. There's plenty of scope under the dash to find a suitable tee-in point to power the devices.
