The XC60 MY2016-2017 and XC70 MY2016 have a start / stop function
The dealer can not turn it off

Would you like to disable this feature?

It's useful in it's place , but on auto it really ought to work only once the handbrake is on .
You can't disable it as it forms part of the emission specifications hence your lower tax .

This (and EPB. position) are the 2 things I dislike most about the car. I'm probably old school but hate sitting at a longish stop with my foot on the brake, especially when it's dark with the brake lights dazzling following drivers, so apply parking brake and engine then starts. To my mind makes a complete nonsense of the system. Don't think it does the discs much good either when they have a lot of heat in them.

Interesting; I can turn the stop/start function off on my 2012MY manual V70 (there’s a button on the centre console), is it just the autos that can’t disable the stop/start, or all newer models?

Agree the EPB is not in a very intuitive place! I ‘get’ that it frees up the whole transmission-tunnel area, moving it to the dash, but it’s not in the most convenient place under the light switches on the far right, doesn’t feel very natural having it over there...

You can turn it off, but at every start up it defaults back to 'on'.

I'm currently developing such a module that will connect to the OBD connector and will disable this feature.
If necessary, the module can be disconnected in 30 seconds ;-)

Evgeny; if you can produce an illuminating module for the tailgate and fuel filler buttons on my 2012 XC70, I'd find that more interesting. In the dark you cannot see either of these buttons which is a real PITA!

I don't find the automatic start/stop annoying. Now admittedly, it's in the missus' car, not mine, but the times I drive it I find it pretty nice that the engine is silent when I'm at standstill anyway.

Large load on the battery and starter.
Do not long they will work ((((
"Savings" on harmful emissions will eventually affect our wallet
