Thanks for a prompt reply.

I did wonder if your d5 was fixed since your last posting. I,m hoping I dont have to take my turbo off since the vane arm actuator appears to move freely and smoothly, but if everything else checks ok I suppose cleaning the turbo vanes is always an option.

Just out of interest, does your volvo sound rattely like an old naturally aspirated diesel engine?, because I've heard other Volvo d5's , which sound much quieter than mine while idling and revving?
No my engine is not fixed yet. My arm seems to move freely too but all the diags Mike and i did lead me to have the turbo off and to clean the vanes or to see if something is broken. I have all the gaskets needed for a turbo removal and should have done the job and post the pics before the week end.

Just to say, my actuator arm works freely downwards but I found it was possible for me to gain some millimeters upwards, so it may be stick a little bit and thus be out of specs depending on the engine rpm... Disassembling will tell us more !

this video is taken with the vac gauge on the out port on the TCG and not connected to the turbo.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dcsk3va73ew.
the second video is tapped in line from the out port to the turbo.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuXmV2MMuH0
i then changed over to a spare TCG and did the same test.
video 3 taken from the out port with out the turbo connected.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOJ50NJ-eQI.
video 4 turbo connected in line to the out port
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl2gg7dAeFI.
i hope that this helps you.
you will notice that vids 1 and 2 are of the original TCG that was on the car when i bought it.
vids 3 and 4 are a second hand one .

i thought it was untill i did a few test on other members cars and found that the vac pump was weak , helping Fred and trying to help others i may have misslead them slightly in that the figures i had quoted where not correct but at that time i was unaware of the vac pump issue.on saying that the car is fine at the moment..

the spare TCG you can hear it venting more compared to the original, this i have noticed with normal driving. i would suspect that there is a bit off difference, i towed the van with the spare TCg i i had no issues.unless there is a average figure that it should be it is time consuming, i have checked my VNT on the VCT and it is in the specs that it should be at different test stages.

The VCT2000 sound like a great piece of kit to have.
Unfortunately I,m too far away to make the Halifax meet,,(Cumbrias nice this time of year, hint,,lol)
Im confident your videos will go some way to telling me if my vnt govner is operating correctly.....I will commit the vac values to memory and do another vac test tommorow,,,
