Hi, thx for help, now it shows most of the photos, but still some stay unopened?

Sorry but donot understand your remark on report function. Using report explicitly limits the use to unapropriate posts. maybe i misunderstand?

Yes, we've been meaning to alter that message for a while. You can use the report function if the post breaks the rules, or like in this case, if the photo's have disappeared.

As the photo's still missing, I only done the ones I've got on the laptop. I'll have to see if the others are on my cloud/external hard drive. Otherwise it'll have to wait until I replace the disc again and can take new photo's.

Shame I have the wrong pads (right caliper brand, just sit wrong against the disk).
So I have had to put it back together so I can get the right ones!
At least I will know how to do it the second time!
Just for reference

My 2009 has 16.5" disks
Disk part # 30793857
Pads part # 30769061

Thanks of the great write up

Mintex quote 3 sizes of disk, mine being the 16.5 inch.
The caliper mounting bolts are one shot according to my manual and a torque of 190Nm to tighten them if memory serves, Volvo charge £2.20+ vat per bolt.

It was a job I had not planned on doing but having taken the disks off to renew the top mounts there was no way they were going back on when I saw the corrosion on the inner face and inside the hub so local dealer was the quickest option for the bolts. As I was scrapping the disks anyway I barred the caliper piston back in before taking the pads out by levering against the disk with the pry bar between disk and outer pad.

Good write up and an easy enough job once you get stuck in.

Paul.

What's the reason for removing the caliper mounting bracket ?

The disk will not come off with the bracket in place.

I removed it to improve access to the lower arm swivel bolt as I was removing the strut.

Thanks - just replaced the discs/pads last night and soon realised that I needed to remove this bracket

Getting the correct discs was fairly easy (316mm version) but it wasn't so clear which pads I needed. I went with the 74mm height version, which turned out to be taller than the ones I replaced, but as the photos below show, the new pads appear to be a good fit. It's all working great too.
