Default Tyres

Hi,

I have a V90 Cross Country with 19 inch wheels.

Has anyone got other than the factory fit Michelin tyres?

Has anyone got tyres they could recommend. I am especially interested in quiet tyres.

Thanks for your help.

Some of the quietest tyres are from Dunlop and Goodyear. The quietest ones you'll find are are rated at 68 or 69 dB. This is a measure of the drive-by noise level so doesn't equate exactly to interior noise levels but is a good indication. As it's a logarithmic scale a tyre rated at 71dB will be approximately twice as loud as one at 68dB although the component make-up the sound can alter our perception of how loud it seems.

On my Merc I swapped from Contis to Dunlop and there was a noticeable reduction in road noise.

It seems 235/50R19 is not a common size so there is not much choice. The only all season tyre I can find is a pirelli scorpion verde

Yep - the Cross Country Pro comes with 235/50R19 and the standard Cross Country comes with 235/55R18.

There is a 245/45R20 option as well.

It seems there is not a huge amount of choice for 235/50R19 and the Michelins fitted were built specifically for Volvo.

That is interesting. I thought that the v90 was exactly the same platform as the XC90 but obviously not. My XC90 runs with 235/55/19s. To compensate I guess that they must have a different final drive ratio for the V90cc over the XC90.
