Default anti skid service

A Volvo specialist (non-dealership) has confirmed the problem but is outraged that Volvo UK won't help. A second call to them yields a concession that they will cover 20% of the cost leaving me to pay the remaining £1200. Since the car is only a month out of warranty and had an end of warranty service just before Christmas I too feel this is outrageous. 'Which' advise me I might have a claim under the Sale of Goods Act, especially as this is a problem with an expensive component not subject to wear and tear in the normal way and thus expected to last. I intend to take this forward. What are my chances of success? Incidentally, the V specialist has offered a repair rather than a replacement for £500

Could this be a CEM issue. My antiskid would come on when it rained as the water ingress got worse

I had a similar fault 1 month out of warranty on my V70 D5. Fault code investigated - duff pressure sensor in the anti-skid/ABS system. Cost - £450.
A letter to Volvo Uk saw this reduced to £45.

Default Anti Skid Service Required

I had this message come on last night. Bit of a panic as I've only had the car a week and the garage I got it from do not want to know - been pointed out to me in the small print that there was no guarantee with the car. Bummer. Drove it back home last night and it flashed up a message about anti skid being temporary unavailable. After driving for a minute or so, the warning triangle went and the messages cleared. I've used the car twice today and no faults.

I've read on here a few posts on here listing some possible faults. Any suggestions as to the most probable cause and what to check? (brake dust on the sensors?) Are the sensor that are being referred to located on the front wheels? Are they a proximity sensor of some kind that pick up on a castleated disc to detect rotation? Just guessing. Not got a Haynes manual for it yet, and was debating if it's worth bothering with. More and more now they say take it to the dealer. I may have friendly word with them when I take it in to get those DRL turned off.

My car is a V70 2.4L 54 reg. 114K miles with full service history.

DTaylor,
I thought a dealer had to give 3 months warranty by law - even if they write anything into the small print.

Angry Anti Skid Service Required

I have the same message on my V50, put it into a local garage who couldn't do anything for me, told me I would need to go to a Volvo Dealership to get it fixed. So put it in today only to be told that I need a new "Hydraulic Modulator"...and that will cost me £1365 ! The car is just 4 year old and has done 26k miles, I have had it from new so I know its been well looked after. So a letter to Volvo UK has been dispatched, lets see how good Volvo Customer relations are...
Will keep you posted of any news...

Must have been something in the weather this weekend as I had it sun and Mon only been doing it since new alternator fitted though I suspect may be cem but did it after a few good dry days and wet so not sure. Can anyone point out where the sensors are and where should be cleaned. Cheers
