Awd bevel box

HI
Only had a quick look but can anybody tell me how to check the oil level in the bevel box on a V70 R AWD Auto 97 .Also has it got a drain plug.Ive only dived under for a quick look so sorry if ive asked a daft question.thanks in advance.Mike

there is a 13 mm plug on the right side a bit tricky to spot . why , is it wet? drips?

No just got the car and giving it a check over before i use it.Is it checked like a manaul gearbox IE top up till it trickles out to a level,thanks.mike

Yes it's easy to find the 13mm nut but there's no drain plug. I siphoned out all the old oil I could and it was horrible black after 109,000 miles, worse than I expected so I refilled with a fully synthetic GL5 rated diff oil from Castrol, I just hope this is ok as one cannot buy just a litre of genuine volvo part numbered oil. It does specify fully synthetic for all the volvo gearboxes - can't buy it at Halfords or anywhere like it so had to send over internet sale.
