Hmmm.

This is not fair but....

My wife and I had an invitation to spend a week with friends on the Isle of Skye.

We took the '05 XC70 D5 163 Geartronic as it gets much better fuel mileage than the '08 XC70 D5 205 Polestar.

Round trip was a bit over 1,000 miles and when parked at home the trip computer said - 62.8 mpg average....

On our trips to Sweden, including a week doing local driving, taking the '05, we usually end up with around 55 - 56 average mpg when parked at home.

The only thing I can think of that upped the fuel mileage is that before we left I filled up with Shell V-Power and kept to that during the trip.

You're right. It's not fair 😂

But as I live in London, I don't have to pay ulez with my motor, nor do I have a dpf that keeps clogging .

I made very informed choice here, going with petrol, few members may be able to attest for how long I've been checking every possible combination of wheels.

True, but then I don't live in London so that's no issue for me - and the few times we go to London we take the train..

Neither is a clogging DPF, as as far I know, the Euro3 D5 does not have one.

My 2008 205 has it but I've never had a clog (knock on wood).

For us, needing a car with some space for stuff and yearly trips to Sweden, a diesel was the sensible thing..
