Default Wheel bearing

Hi all looking for some advice if anyone can help. My 2016 S60 D4 has developed a humming from the near side rear. At 20mph it is booming but fades as you get faster. Still audible at motorway speeds and bloody annoying. I’ve only had it 3 months and still under the Selekt warranty. Do wheel bearings normally go at 73k? I’ve got Michelin Crossclimates all round so can’t be the tyres? I do a mixture of motorway and London driving everyday for work so it spends a lot of time at 20-30mph. Weird how it’s more audible at lower rather than higher speeds? Any thoughts would be appreciated

You could swap the rear wheels with the front as a free test to see if the problem remains or moves with the wheel.

As above, first rule out the tyres. Mine suffered a loud drone from the rear which was caused by a rear tyre being worn down on the inner side in a strangely stepped manner.

There's quite a few threads on S/V/XC60 droning caused by the tyres. I've contributed to a couple...

Replacement tyres were the only fix needed.

No, wheel bearings normally last well over 100,000 ... but if water gets in them who knows . Don't ignore tyres , these days there are more noisy tyres due to uneven wear than wheel bearings faulty .

Thumbs up

Took the n/s rear off this morning and it looks very ropey I must say. Uneven wear on the inside and in general doesn’t look like it has worn well at all. Swapped the rears to the fronts and the noise transfers with that particular tyre. Two new ones ordered and tracking booked as well. Thanks for your help everyone! Didn’t think for a minute it could be the tyres especially being Michelin Crossclimates!
