Don't forget if you have missed out you can apply for a grant from the UK government worth £350 iirc.

Then if you live in Scotland you can top up the UK grant with one from the Scottish government worth another £300 on top.

That is probably enough to cover most of the supply and installation costs of a charger.

Hi , can you tell me what size of cable needs ran, im guessing 6mm

Id like to get the supply done upfront, would a normal spur outlet left screwed to the wall be ok?

If you need to know that you shouldn't be doing it , There are very tight Electrical Installation regulations now for this kind of thing . with all that current available fires can easily start with anything not done correctly .

It was available until end September for new or Selekt used cars - https://assets.volvocars.com/uk/~/me...s.pdf?la=en-gb

I've given up waiting on Newmotion as they seem to be clueless and gone for the £500 cash offered by VCUK instead. I'm looking to get a Hypervolt charger installed - it'll cost £195 net but I think it looks like a better charger than the Newmotion one anyway.

I think the cable from my consumer unit is 6mm wires. It is about 1.5cm thick in total and armoured, (or at least very heavy duty)

It goes from a 32A RCD through the garage to the front of the house where the electrician joined it to the charger in a waterproof single unit enclosure.

I've just been on to Volvo myself and getting my newmotion order cancelled and they are sending me the £500 good will gesture to get my own charging point. Quite a simple process from my experience, even through a 3rd party leasing company. I'm looking at the Hypervolt at the moment as it looks like a pretty good option. Just waiting for an installation quote.

Would be interested if anyone has had one fitted, or if anyone might have experience with other units. I know a lot of people who've got pod point installs done, but they seem a bit hit or miss.

Also, anyone with a recently delivered T6 or T8 XC60? Did the cars come with both a 13amp charging cable, and a type 2 one as well? When I went to the dealers initially to look at a car, they said a type 2 cable would be £50 extra, but all the pricelists I've seen state it's already included. Would be interested to know.

I've got a HyperVolt due to be installed at the end of November. And my XC60 T8 came with a Type II cable only, ie no granny cable, as it was a MY21. MY22 should have both.

Who did you talk with? I think I’d rather get a hypervolt anyway.
