How to undo the upper nut on 940 clutch master cylinder?
Hello,
I am changing the clutch master cylinder on my 1994 940 diesel. (According to Skandix they are the same on all manual 940's with hydraulic clutch operation.) I have undone the lower nut that retains the master cylinder but I cannot access the upper one. Is there a trick to access the upper nut? Should I remove the clutch pedal to get at it? If so, how is the clutch pedal removed? Thanks for any advice/suggestions. Martin |

Would it be possible to use a crows foot spanner on it?

That might be possible - if I had one, I'd give it a go. |

If you are removing the master cylinder then you will need to release the cylinder pushrod from the clutch pedal so you may as well remove the clutch pedal by removing the pedal pin. You should then be able to access that upper nut.

Thank you for all the helpful suggestions. In the end, with intense contortions, I managed to get the upper nut undone with the use of a 13mm French "pipe spanner":
