Volvo knew that the sunroofs cold have leakage problems and provided remedy instructions (in the attached pdf).

As to whether you could swap to a glass sunroof, it would probably involve replacing the complete unit which would require removal of the headlining to get at it.

the links for info on sunroof appears as a black space ? mine actually leaks onto the back seat drivers side but no obvious point of entry, had not used it since i bought car, it started leaking after the week of snow!!
any ideas? please

The glass sunroof (moon roof) can replace the metal sunroof. The 1992-94 960 moon roof can be installed in 1985-92 740 series. I installed one in my daughter's 1987 744T. The 1995+ 940/960 moon roof can replace the metal sunroof in the early 940 series. You must remove the headliner and replace the entire mechanism, and use the headliner which came with the moon roof. I've done two.

About 3 years ago I was searching for a 2nd hand replacement metal sunroof sealing strip for my 1993 960. I went down to Braydons and asked if they had any used ones available and they told me that Volvo had just started to re-manufacture them. The part number is 3528809 and they are exactly as the original ones with the metal (aluminium) clip to go onto the roof lid edge and the felt on the sealing side...excellent stuff. They should be good for both the 700 and 900 metal sunroof lids. I dont know about the glass roofs. Give them a call and Steve may be able to help you. Braydons own Sentinal Cars which is where the parts dept has now moved to. Parts dept, 0208 826 2486 and I think if you use the "old" Braydons parts number, 020 8985 2255, it should get you through as well. All the parts are now upstairs in Steves' control and I use them all the time for any of my Volvo parts, usually by post the next day.
Whilst you are messing around with the roof, make sure the recess drains at the front corners are clear.

Coincidentally, I’ve just replaced mine last week.
Bear with me, I’ve just posted a reply but lost it. I’ll try later today. In the mean time, all the required information is available on this forum. Click on “Volvo Owners Club” then “tech stuff” then “700/900/90 faq, then scroll down to reach a drop down and select “body sun roof”. I had to read it several times and it only started to make full sense when I actually started the job. I’ll try to post a “how I did it” with images as soon as I can.

I was hoping looking at mine that it could be teased off/on in-situ. But it seems not
