Question V90 my2020 tailgate rear lights

Evening all, I've been stupid and broken the lens on the inboard rear lights (fog & reversing). If anyone knows how to remove and replace the unit, I'd be greatful for your help.Thanks.

Looking at the light cluster itself, there should be three fixings (the two gold threaded either side and the metal clip between the bulb fixings):

Going from the manual on replacing the reverse bulbs:

It doesn't look like the fixings are accessible via this panel as it looks quite small... although I might be wrong and if so you're onto a winner!

Pop off the cover on the back of the tailgate and have a look if you can see the three bolt heads that hold the light-cluster on.

If they're not accessible you'll need to remove more of the boot trim.

I don't know the exact procedure for the V90 (but it'll be frustrating for sure)... don't attempt it without trim removal tools or you'll put big dents or scratches in your trim panels.

Or take it to a local independent garage with decent labour rates and get them to do it.

you will probably have to remove the bumper cover too as they are usually tucked behind it .

I've followed your suggestions and after removing the tailgate trim panel I found there is actually plenty of access to the three fixings ( amazingly ), so the job is as good as done!
I never thought it'd be so straightforward.

Thanks again for you help, much appreciated.

Hi, my left rear light module is showing an intermittent error - condensation inside ☹

Volvo want £156 to investigate and then £450 to replace. I can buy the part for £250 plus VAT. How easy was it to replace? Did you have to remove the bumper?

Thanks in advance

If your meaning the main light unit, then yes the bumper needs to come off.

You also need to strip the trim our from inside the boot to access the screws.

I've replaced one earlier in the year, its doable DIY, with some basic tools.

The only thing I was extra cautious about was the top retaining bolt on the pillar. Its recessed so not easy to see what you are doing. I used an endoscope camera to help see what I was doing.

It seems to become a common problem. I had one replaced under warranty. The second, Volvo quoted me £630, but it seems the fault is gone away now.
