Default Volvo V50 about to purchase , experts advice

Just about to buy a 2010 Volvo v50 diesel 1600 , full 12 month MOT , FSH, ex Gov ministry of defence car . Looks immaculate condition, ( to me ) £5000. Having a full AA check.

Previous owner of 240 S40 740 , S80 so looking to get another Volvo ( been subscribing to this forum many years)

Any expert advice will be greatly received.

Cheers all

Your choice... but to me, a 2010 ex authorities 1.6D for £5000 doesn't sound that appealing even if it is immaculate. But as far as what to look for, there's tons and tons of information online about these things, mostly bad as we all love a good tale of wore but there's definitely plenty pointers and things to be wary of posted. I'd maybe compare it to what else is out there with a bit more spec and not a 1.6D... personal preference.

Had an AA inspection and recommends some minor repairs but it came up with two codes .
P1577 Right Eng Mount Solenoid Valve Open Circuit.
P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit .

There is no Eng Management warning.

How serious are these warnings and would any of you buy the vehicle with these codes present .

Thank you.

Default Volvo v.50

Hi, could not find how to make a new post, but have 2008 Volvo v.50, and wish to import to us. Any one done this. How long do I get to register, and how do I go about the speedo. Thanks. John

due to a flat battery,,, "

oh really" is my first thought followed by "bs"

a car with 2 faults = dealer Fixes them properly and re-checked for codes after or No sale + walk away and any more "dealer bs" = Walk away

Tbf he has said he will make all necessary repairs inc replacing cam sensor but reading on here and elsewhere it seems that that code could be an intermittent problem.
Has offered a 6 month warranty does that make any difference ?
Cheers for replies .

Sorry but I would be walking away from that car. It’s already priced high in my opinion and then with it having a fault which could be intermittent makes it even worse. Imagine you buy it, the fault returns, they say it’s fixed again but it comes back. 6 months later your own your own as the dealer won’t care less.
At 5k there are plenty of decent v50s out there.
