You maybe able to work around lack of start/stop and keep the engine running.
What I found on my V90, is that if you use the brake pedal just enough to bring the car to a stop and lightly rest your foot on the pedal then start/stop does not activate. As soon as I press the pedal harder, then the start/stop cuts in. I have kind of got used to how the pedal feels and how much pedal pressure is needed, so can keep the engine running even with start/stop enabled.

Have you tried setting up an "individual" drive mode? I have that as a workaround where I've set everything up the way I want it, including Start/Stop off.
Annoying it always defaults to comfort mode but easy enough to scroll to individual mode. Saying that, does your model year still feature the drive mode scroll wheel? |

What are they going to remove next so the driver has even less interaction with the car, the steering wheel??!!

I was told the other day that a new Tesla doesn't have a steering wheel!!! Haven't been able to confirm that, but definitely not for me.

If you move the gear lever over to the 'Manual' side, Stop/Start is disabled. Just have to remember to move it back.

Don't worry, in my experience stop/start rarely works anyway.

Probably because the only way the cars qualify as lower emission vehicles is by having the system activated.
Think of all those diesel VWs that qualified for zero road tax based on the lab results, but should have been charged much higher rates based on the real world emissions. By permanently switching the system on perhaps the real world model lives up to its paper statistics. Having now seen the prospective lawsuits being planned against the car makers who cheated on emissions test perhaps Volvo are pre-empting any future legal action by making owners use the tool they provided to reduce emissions. |
