Default C30 2.0 SE Lux with high milage

Never owned a Volvo before but very tempted to buy a C30 2.0l petrol (2006) with 93k on the clock. What sort of milage do you tend to get out of these engines?

£2200 with 12 months MOT. Any advice would be much appreciated.

93k sounds like it's barely run in!

If it's been serviced and not thrashed then I'd say you're good to go.

I think 93k would not be considered high milage.

For the engine if they are very reliable out to mileages far in excess of that.

The issue you have is more bushings, bearings etc which are costly if you are not a home mechanic but once again with 93k bearings are all probably fine and with the C30 being small even bushes ok.

Where you may need to give consideration is:-
Clutch. Is it a Manual? Clutch should be ok but at those miles if it’s seen some abuse/poor use could be an issue, check biting point.
Brakes. Are the discs and pads ok or are they low?
Other than that I think you would be unlucky to have any issues.

Do check cam belt and aux belt intervals as I assume they are around the 100k mark (I don’t know) and they could be a few quid.

My 2.0i engine is going strong on 150k miles now, bought it when it had 112k on it. So I wouldn't worry about the mileage, it's chain driven so no cambelt to worry about either.

Smile 2l engine

the 2L petrol is very reliable, comes from the mazda/ford camp in this year, also being non turbo, nor diesel where you have a lot of extra components that "can" fail makes it a good choice for no big surprises on the maintenance side.. one thing that seems common is the thermostat often fails and the car then doesnt get up to temp, so if you test drive one see if it actually gets up to temp, not expensive to replace.. some reports of high oil consumption but this can also be symptom of the t-stat and the engine never getting up to temp.. i would agree with a clutch replacement (have been there done that) being likely as you near 100k thats probably the most likely big bill.. but worth doing
