Ok its a problem to persuade a tree hugger that my 20 year old landrover ( at this point please substiute make of choise ) is greener than his pious as the carbon biuld cost are spread over many more years and I do not have to replace a set of batteries every 5 years or so with the repeated manufactureing cost of same, he will repeat as a mantra he gets intergalactic miles per gallon where I get 28 and ignore the other costs.

Yes I have had this discussion and now for the sake of my sanity avoid all Jesus booted bearded folk.

As for batteries in cold weather, ask me why I keep jump leads and a booster pack handy in winter.

Regards Paul.

Out of curiosity Paul, why do you keep jump leads and a booster pack handy in winter ??????

I've been telling my friends for ages that my old car is the greenest in the car park (quite apart from it's colour). As a rough guide I equate the carbon cost of any product to the cash cost, since my V70 depreciates by a couple of hundred a year compared to a newer car at several thousand a year I figure the manufacturing carbon cost is now minimal.

As for the jump leads if it's like my experience it's to help out people in inferior new cars.
