Saved from the crusher by 2 days....had lay in a farmyard for years. Took a lot of work but well worth it....great driving wagons!!

Missed the diesel bit, brilliant motor, had a 940.

In my experience, the turbodiesel is slow and unrefined round town. Both are brilliant and fairly refined and comfortable at motorway speeds.
With the diesel you really can feel the extra weight over the front end while driving.

The diesel is much more economical on a run - I average 45mpg (over the last 35k miles) from my 740 turbodiesel, whereas my brother's 940LPT auto doesn't often get much better than 30mpg.

I take my hat off to you for saving any 700/900 and getting it going but the fact that it's a D24 is great news.
