Default Power steering problem

Hi
My 95 850 t5 has suddenly developed a steering issue. When wheels are straight if I turn right no problem, if I turn left from straight, there is resistance for the first quarter turn then it is fine, turn it back fine, turn left from straight again it's like it doesn't want to turn, then it gives, and turns the rest fine. I have just had wheels off the ground, can't find any excessive play any where. Nice clean looking fluid, tried turning with the cap off to bleed system, just the same. I recently had new front struts and springs fitted but has been fine since then until Thursday when this problem arrived. Steering belt is fine as well. Any ideas??

TIA

How is the steering feel if the steering is turned one complete turn to the left, then the same test done about the same sort of steering wheel angles?

Unless you can feel a definite improvement in resistance with the wheel turned 1-lock left, then it looks like your steering column might have a problem.

However, your symptoms are pointing to needing a new steering rack.

As you have changed the struts recently It might be worth checking that the springs are seated correctly and that the upper mount bearings are O.K. and not sticking. Were the bearings changed?

With regard to the springs, it has been fine since they were done about 5 weeks ago, we didn't change the top bearings. They were fine though.
They steering feels fine once past the straight ahead position, it only "sticks" when turning left, one full turn left and the steering feels fine. It has just suddenly happened as well, it resists you turning the wheels left from straight ahead only..

It does suggest that the steering rack is worn.
