Another ICM problem...
Hi Guys
My ICM (10 speaker "high performance" option) has been playing up over the last few months and its time to do something about it. Been reading up - and there is a lot of info in terms of board level repair for it so that is good news. I am going to do a write up of the various symptoms, faults and fixes that I have found from around the web, once I have fixed mine, as there is not a lot of solid info written, from what I have found anyway (please correct me if I am wrong!). I have some questions - and want to bounce them off those wise souls that have experienced failure before me... My own ICM always boots ok, but sometimes, after probably 10mins it goes dead - display blank and if the sat nav is up, it goes back in the dash. Its not always exactly 10mins, but is around that. If it is a security related shutdown - am I correct in that it will trigger within 10-20 seconds after a start (which it has never done)? I want to rule out a security issue from the list. If I leave it once failed, it will after another 10-20mins burst into life again and be fine all day... even surviving restarts. If I retrieve codes, I see I have: 5.1. 1A53 ICM-1A53 communication with mMM control module ; Signal Missing Intermittent Fault Intermittent Fault 5.2. 1A56 ICM-1A56 communication with mP2 control module ; Signal Missing Intermittent Fault Intermittent Fault 5.3. 1A51 ICM-1A51 communication with AUD control module ; Signal Missing Intermittent Fault Intermittent Fault 5.4. 1A52 ICM-1A52 communication with ATM control module ; Signal Missing Intermittent Fault 5.5. 1A57 ICM-1A57 communication with PHM control module ; Signal Missing Intermittent Fault 5.6. 6C76 ICM-6C76 Phone module (PHM) not valid ; Faulty signal Intermittent Fault 5.7. 6C71 ICM-6C71 Audio module (AUD) not valid ; Faulty signal Intermittent Fault 5.8. E003 ICM-E003 configuration fault ; Software fault Intermittent Fault 5.9. DC02 ICM-DC02 control module communication ; Communication missing Intermittent Fault 5.10. DC00 ICM-DC00 control module communication ; Internal fault Intermittent Fault Interesting in that list is the absence of DC01 - from what I read of other ICM failures! A ring test has never shown me a failure (obviously at the time of testing). Given the number of comms errors above - does that point to a failed fiber ring? (I dont have a sub, but I have the in-dash phone)? I am suspecting a power related error in my case (component failure on the PCB) - but I may be way off and its a ring issue. If you have had any of the above errors or had a similar cluster of errors, what were your symptoms? We must be able to cataloger the symptoms and repairs rather than just going through all means to test and hoping to hit the jackpot! Thanks in advance Guys. David

My experience of the most security system is that it shuts down after 10-20 seconds as you say. Mine was a faulty data nag which I linked out to get the rest to work.
Not much help on the rest as mine works fine though I do get the mp2 comms error as I have a dension unit fitted so it cant see that module |

That is interesting that the MP2 is known to be linked to the Dension. Given I have so many errors I do wonder if its ICM power related - as that would affect many things at different times I guess (or hope!) as power related seems to be easier to fix. Anyone know what error arrives when the amp under the seat is duff? - ring break or other? David

If I get a chance I will hook up VIDA and unplug mine and let you know.

From what I have read, there appears to be a moderately high occurrence of dry joints in the amps... so just wondered what error that gave.... can only assume its a fiber related error as I doubt if CAN is down there. David

From my experience with the sat nav they do only talk on the most network you can get a fibre optic link that you can use to take bits out the network.

There are quite a few folks around capable of soldering so thought it would be a valuable resource out there. David
