1974 to 1970 conversion
Hello all,
Anyone ever convert a 1973-74 145 to a 1969-70 model? bumpers, front grill etc.? I guess the dash could also be changed out. Mark |

Mark, depending how far you wish to be authentic with the conversion and assuming your are talking Volvo model years there are a number of major items which would require changing. I’ll just list them in an order that I think of them.
1 Front panel – radiator smaller and vertical flow up to 1970 model and different grill as mentioned 2 Front wings/fender due to indicator light location and style 3 Brake servo location (not quite on LHD) 4 Door frames and opening quarter lights in doors 5 Rear lights and rear panel 6 Transmission tunnel and gearbox top and gear leaver 7 Dashboard There are lots of small changes as well but this should give you a list to start with. |

You have chosen the most difficult model the 1974 ..., It is really a lot of the new 240 at the front end including the dash a huge amount of changes from a 1973 model . the only later model for you would be a 1971

thanks for all of your responses. How hard to change bumper? Does the extension from the frame stick out the same as in older cars or is it longer?

It would be cheaper long term to buy a 1970 or '71 car and have both
