Diesel to fit B230 Red Block Bellhousing??
got a bit of a project.
I may want to replace a B230 Petrol Red Block engine with a diesel. Do any of the Volvo diesel's fit the same bellhousing?? If so which ones. Don't worry about wiring, cat's, gear/final drive ratio's etc, this is a marine project which is why the bellhousing is not changeable. Thanks for any input AQ151C |

Penta
I dont know the answer but I understand that the "Penta" arm of Volvo did offer quite a range of diesels
I am sure someone on here will be able to give you some pointers..

Not as far as I know, the diesel used in a 900 or 200 car was a VW engine. The gearbox bellhousings are unique to that engine.

Correct, you would need engine and gearbox for the D24 engine...or at least engine and bellhousing to put onto your box. Good luck though, diesels are rare!

Depending what needs "fixing" with the B230 - there are plenty of B230 engines around, cheap, to swap in!

replace a B230 Petrol Red Block engine with a diesel.
why stick with volvo why not look for any pre common rail diesel car and if you get a good engine and box change the lot.with luck it is possible to buy an old car with a good engine and box for a few hundred take the bits you need and break the car sell the bits and get your money back , yes a bit of work but its a project.
