Its not a major update but its a update.

Ive stripped my loom to check its condition, so far ive found.
1 section of burnt wiring.
3 wires which shouldnt exist and have a open connection
Numerous bodges/bypasses.

Well it explains why nothing worked when i tried to start it.
Measured some wires so i can get a close estimate to how much cable ill need and made a start designing the sections. Im also creating a list of what i need to get ordered. Bodywork should restart next week.

Aim is to get the majority if not all the bodywork done in 2 months 1 month if possible.

There maybe a few changes happening too, as my circumstances have changed the requirments may be different so i maybe getting it back on the road with the current engine (if it works) We shall have to wait and see though.

Well what a day its been. Take note there is no loom in the car at all.

The engine turned over.
I got a decent spark.
I got fuel delivery.

And...

Almost, i had it running when it was turning over but as soon as it went to ignition nothing, it stopped. Tomorrows job will be to check that side of the wiring over to see what is causing it not to carry on running.

Overall good day

Edit
Also the carb on it is a Weber 34 Ict, all ive found out so far is that its common with VW's

Well its taking a bit longer than expected as the tool fairies have been about, as i cant open my toolbox at the back of the garage without moving the car i left all the tools in easy reach while i was away, however ive come back and some tools have gone back in the toolbox, i have found the ones i need to progress continued.

The front drivers floor fits and has just been primed (for inside the box section) and the rear floor also fits but that needs prep for welding. Once thats done its the final trial fit before cleaning up the body of the car and getting on with the welding.

Its going quicker than the passenger side which is good.

Ill take some pictures tomorrow but it looks the same as what i did on the passenger side.

Well here is one picture of the box sections, cleaned and painted. The floor is currently drying as well as the places to be welded, that will either be fitted tomorrow or later today depending on the weather.

Also ive been thinking about changing the colour from the gray it is now to either a white or cream.

Edit

Floor ready to be welded, weather has gone rubbish.

Well its started, the floor has been welded in but im not going overboard with the welding as ive not done it for awhile and dont want to risk arc eye. Tomorrow will see me finishing off the welding around the prop tunnel and start fabricating the metal for the cut out areas.

Lets hope for a nice day.

Well all the fabrication is now complete for the floor and its currently drying to be welded in tomorrow.

I have made a start on repairing the door post... well repairing is cutting out the rusty metal. Will continue tomorrow.

Spent the last few days researching overdrive gearboxes and im starting to think that its getting very hard to find overdrive boxes now with all the components for the swap, well at least hard to find keeping the costs down.

At the moment the cost for keeping the original engine in is getting close to the same cost of a engine/gearbox swap... kinda hope thats not the case.

An update with pictures, decided there was enough done to take some pictures.

Finished welding in the rear floor.

Welded in the replacment patch, this went in with no drama at all and welded really well with no blowing through.

The next job, fix the rotten pillar, doesnt seem too hard and ive done it before.
